Strengthening science through openness, integrity, and cooperation

ANCILLARYEVENT · EVT-G67 · ID: EVT-G67

Science is at a crossroads. Former ways of operating are changing in response to calls for greater transparency and connection between the work of scientists and the interests of society. At the same time, scientific and technological discovery is advancing at a rapid pace, sometimes exacerbating issues of distrust. For example, organized paper mills flood the scientific literature with poor quality research, some of it generated by AI, at scale. Maintaining the integrity of science and ethical practice is therefore more important than ever. Fortunately, movements for open science, responsible use of AI, and civic science practice offer hope. In this panel session we will gather a range of stakeholders to discuss ways to grow trust in science through the practice of research integrity, both in publications and in the praxis of research.
