The Science of Connection: Nonverbal Cues, Mindful Listening, and Collaborative Communication
ORAL
Abstract
Effective communication goes beyond words-it's found in the signals we send, the presence we bring as listeners, and the way we collaborate in groups. This session will explore how our nonverbal cues like smiles and posture shape our interactions and how they convey warmth and clarity professionally. Participants will learn principles of mindful, "zenful" listening skills inspired by Rebecca Shafir, practice safe conversation starters, and strengthen active-listening habits. Finally, we will apply these skills to small-group and workplace settings, offering practical strategies for sharing ideas, supporting collaboration, and becoming healthier, more self-aware communicators in any environment.
