AI Town Hall: A Conversation on the Future of Physics and AI

Artificial Intelligence tools are rapidly evolving and transformatively impacting the practice of physics. APS is deeply invested in supporting our community to navigate this landscape and is convening this AI Town Hall at the Global Physics Summit to provide an overview of relevant initiatives as well as to hear directly from our members on their experiences. This Town Hall gathers representatives from: 1) the Department of Energy Office of Science to provide an overview of the Genesis mission; 2) APS publishing to discuss how APS journals are navigating the impact that large language models have on writing, refereeing, and publishing scientific findings; and, 3) from the APS Panel on Public Affairs on their effort to craft an enduring position of the APS that can help guide the approach to using AI tools in the practice of physics.
