Beyond the Hype: A Veteran's View of AI's Real Trajectory and Future Potential
ORAL · Invited
Abstract
To quote Yogi Berra, it's tough to make predictions, especially about the future.
My goal in this presentation will be to discuss what I see as AI's likely trajectory for the next decade or so, and how that trajectory is likely to impact early-career physicists. I am hopefully in a reasonable position to do this, having worked on AI for 40+ years after being trained as a theoretical physicist by Penrose and Thorne.
