Stripe Order in a Frustrated Magnet with a Nematic Random Field
ORAL
Abstract
We investigate the effects of random site dilution on a layered frustrated J1-J2 Ising model on a cubic lattice. Random vacancies produce a random field-like disorder for the nematic order parameter that distinguishes the two spatial directions of a potential magnetic stripe order. We employ large-scale Monte Carlo simulations to study whether or not these random fields destroy the magnetic stripe order. We find that the stripe order survives for weak nematic random fields. In these cases, we also study the phase transition between the paramagnetic and stripe phases, paying particular attention to the order of the transition and its critical behavior. For stronger nematic random field disorder, we explore whether a state with simultaneous stripe order in both the x and y directions can exist.
