Logical algorithms in a quantum error-detecting code on a trapped-ion quantum processor

Abstract

We demonstrate the performance of the Quantinuum Helios trapped-ion quantum processor on a variety of component, system, and application-level algorithms. In particular, we focus on experiments performed by encoding algorithms onto logical qubits in a distance-2 quantum error-detecting code. These experiments span a variety of settings, from state preparation to quantum simulation. We demonstrate break-even performance on a number of these algorithms compared to the achievable results in the unencoded case
