Tau Air-Shower Directional Reconstruction with TAMBO

ORAL

Abstract

The Tau Air-Shower Mountain-Based Observatory (TAMBO) is a large-scale observatory designed for detecting high-energy tau events in the 1-100 PeV range with high cosmic source purity, promising a pointing resolution of < 1° for reconstructed tau air-shower events. This sub-degree angular resolution is essential for accurately associating reconstructed showers with cosmic neutrino sources. This study develops a framework for reconstructing simulated tau air-shower events and provides a foundational understanding of the parameters that lead to a high-fidelity directional reconstruction. Results indicate that core-containment strongly governs the achievable quality of directional reconstruction, a unique and motivating factor for TAMBO.
