Introduction to Tensor-Vector Gravity
POSTER
Abstract
There was a time when Newtonian Physics, along with Galilean transformations, seemed to explain our Universe with precision. To maintain the invariance of all laws of Physics given a change of reference frame, Lorentz transformations were introduced, leading to Special Relativity, a theory that would explain local phenomena with excellence. To explain slight disagreements between observations and theory, Einstein's General Relativity provided a great solution. Now, in an effort to unify gravity and Quantum Mechanics or to explain phenomena such as dark matter and dark energy, alternative theories of Gravitation have been proposed. One of these theories is tensor-vector gravity, where instead of only considering a metric tensor to find the field equations, a vector field is incorporated. An introduction to this theory and some of its results, worked on during my Bachelor's thesis, are presented.
