Development of a novel Multi-Wire Proportional Counter (MWPC) detector system with compact onboard pre-amplifiers

POSTER

Abstract

The TRIUMF Neutral Atom Trap for Beta Decay (TRINAT) facility seeks to measure properties of nuclear beta decays in order to test the predictions of the Standard Model at low energies. To replace the Double-Sided Silicon Strip Detectors (DSSSD) previously in use at TRINAT, we have designed and developed novel Multi-Wire Proportional Chamber (MWPC) detector hardware, featuring individual channel output with onboard preamplifiers providing shaped pulse outputs. The novel hardware was installed and tested in the TRINAT experiment during the experiment's October 2025 beamtime. Results in comparison to the previous silicon strip detectors are listed.
