Radiation damage and particle physics from laser-trapped beta-decaying atoms
POSTER
Abstract
By fitting the energy spectrum of atomic shakeoff electrons to sudden approximation calculations [Levinger Phys Rev 1957], we deduce more energetic electrons in the 200 eV range optimizing two-strand DNA breaks than expected. We also show: measurements sensitive to neutrino helicity in the isobaric mirror decay of 37K; plans for time-reversal violation in isospin-hindered 47K especially sensitive to parity-even isospin-breaking interactions between nucleons; plans to measure the charge radius of 38mK an order of magnitude better in the 4S to 5P transition to compare to 38Ca and test isospin symmetry relations between the expectation value of the operator r^2 and the Coulomb operator r^2 inside nuclei.
