Active polymers

Aiming to bring ideas and concepts about active matter into the polymer physics field, we investigate polymers when mobility, configurations, interactions, and assembly are governed not only by thermal agitation but also by energy released autonomously. In one approach, we create polymers with intrinsic activity. In a second approach, we study passive polymers in an active matter bath and conclude that the active bath causes chains to swell.
