Abstract
The transformations of electronic orbitals under twist may affect the electronic bands of twisted bilayers and interfaces. Based on symmetry analysis and microscopic models we show that twist introduces spin-orbit coupling terms at the interfaces and determine their form and twist angle dependence at both low and large twist angles. We discuss their implications for superconductivity, transport and topological states.
