p-wave Magnet in Van der waals Hetero structure

Abstract

We show that p-wave magnetism occurs in an antiferromagnet–metal–antiferromagnet trilayer system. By analyzing the interlayer exhcange coupling mediated via RKKY interaction, the perpendicular alignment between the antiferromagnetic layers can be stabilized, giving rise to odd-parity magnetic order. We give a symmetry based analysis that protect or enhance this unconventional order. Our results demonstrate that correlated trilayer heterostructures provide a tunable platform for unconventional magnetism.
