Adapting Laser Based Sensors for Continuous Monitoring of Natural Gas Emissions
ORAL · Invited
Abstract
LongPath Technologies has pioneered the deployment of open-path laser-based methane sensors across the United States, aiming to flatten the methane emissions curve through real-time quantification and responsive alert systems. Our central node-based laser networks continuously monitor for natural gas emissions and provide customers with real-time emissions from their facilities, allowing for rapid identification and repair of leaks. To date we have abated over 8 BCF of natural gas emissions. To achieve this, we have transformed laboratory-based laser technology into robust field system allowing for autonomous, multi-year operation in the varied and harsh environments of oil and gas fields.
