van der Waals Nanoreactors - Part II: Engineering Palladium-based Superconductors

ORAL

Abstract

Due to nanoconfinement, chemical reactivity within fully encapsulated van der Waals stacks may be distinct from that in the bulk synthesis environment. In this talk, we present the implementation of van der Waals nanoreactors for synthesizing crystalline materials with a focus on palladium based compounds. I will first review our progress in nano-synthesis of new Pd based superconductors, including Pd7WTe2, Pd7MoTe2 and a Pd-Te binary phase. I will then discuss our efforts in expanding the family of Pd-based superconducting compounds to new regimes that are currently unexplored.
