Performance and First Science Results from the qRIXS Instrument at the Linac Coherent Light Source
ORAL
Abstract
qRIXS is the flagship materials science instrument at the Linac Coherent Light Source (LCLS), featuring time- and momentum- resolved resonant inelastic X-ray scattering (RIXS) in the soft X-ray regime. Leveraging the newly commissioned superconducting accelerator, LCLS-II, qRIXS operates with up to 1 MHz repetition rate of X-ray free-electron laser delivery and provides unprecedented photon flux and stability for high-resolution spectroscopies. I will present a detailed description of its performance across the 400-930 eV photon energy range, including energy and time resolution. Benchmark commissioning results and first science data will be discussed to illustrate the instrument's capability in probing elementary excitations, nonequilibrium dynamics, and correlation effects driven by light-matter interactions in quantum materials.
*Use of the Linac Coherent Light Source (LCLS), SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory, is supported by the U.S. Department of Energy, Office of Science, Office of Basic Energy Sciences under Contract No. DE-AC02-76SF00515.
