A Physics Career Path: Calibration of Remote Sensors in Space to Generate Actionable Data
ORAL · Invited
Abstract
Not all data is meaningful. This talk covers a remote sensing career path focused on the development and calibration of exquisite, earth-observing sensors in space. Ensuring the quality and meaningfulness of the sensor data requires developing and executing novel calibration approaches, which benefits directly from physics training. Throughout this talk, I'll highlight the physics skills I leverage at work and how my scientific curiosity makes me a valuable member of the team. I will describe my career path from experimental physics to science policy to aerospace engineering and what I've learned from those transitions.
