Timescales for Equilibrium and Classicality

Abstract

We establish precise timescales for classicality and equilibration to occur in quantum systems governed solely by the Hamiltonian's structure. Using state distinguishability and a Haar average over initial states, we identify the loss of distinguishability as the marker of transition into classical or equilibrium regimes. This framework aims to uncover the relations between quantum Darwinism and equilibration.
