Black hole X-ray binaries in globular clusters
ORAL
Abstract
I will discuss the observational evidence for black hole X-ray binaries in globular clusters. Over the past few years, evidence for such objects has begun to be found in globular clusters in both the Milky Way and in nearby galaxies. I will discuss, in particular, the first such object, which shows a bizarre optical spectrum with strong, broad oxygen lines and no Balmer emission, suggesting that its donor star is a carbon-oxygen white dwarf.
