Abstract
The Society of Physics Students was founded with the goal of fostering a strong, supportive, and engaged professional physics community among physics undergraduates. Chapters of the SPS established by students, for students, provide opportunities and resources for gaining experience, building personal networks, and developing individual skill sets. It is within the scope of the society's mission to provide these benefits to prospective physics majors and those with an interest in science in general. Organizing outreach events helps SPS chapters by expanding their presence in the local community and benefits the community itself by disseminating scientific knowledge to audiences. Outreach seeds curiosity and instills interest by prompting the general public to question natural phenomena and think like scientists. In this presentation, I will share my experiences in performing outreach as well as developing tools and techniques with broad applications for use by other SPS entities. In addition, I will explain how and why SPS has begun a new initiative to bring outreach ideas and opportunities to its expansive network of chapters.
