Mammoth Mechanics

Abstract

This past year the remains of a mammoth were discovered near Weatherford College. While the application of archeology can give certain physical measurements such as height and weight, there are still many unknowns when it comes to certain characteristics of the mammoth. However, with the application of introductory physics to the fossil we will determine the energetics and locomotion of this prehistoric creature. We will then compare our results with the accepted views of mammoths so that we main gain a better understanding of this extinct giant land mammal that once walked on our very own streets.
