Parallel to Serial Powering

POSTER

Abstract

The Large Hadron Collider (LHC) is going from parallel to serial powering, and Oklahoma State University's high energy department was tasked with designing the power supply for the switch. I was tasked to run test on FEI4B front end chips, and these chips are the same chips that are used as the pixel detectors within the LHC. However, with the chips that I was working with did not have pixel detectors on them, because I was only worried about the noise levels of the electronics. The electronics were important, because I would be comparing the data from a commercial power supply to the power supply that Oklahoma State produced. Before gathering data to compare the two power supplies, the data for parallel and serial powering from a commercial power supply was needed, and when the data collection for this was done then the data for Oklahoma State's power supply could begin.
