Modeling Instruction in High School Physics
ORAL
Abstract
The modeling method of physics instruction, developed at Arizona State University, is now being implemented in many classrooms across the nation. Teachers report that modeling workshops have fundamentally changed their teaching to the benefit of their students. While there are many passing fads in education, modeling instruction is a coherent instructional method that really does work, and that can be applied to any introductory curriculum. I will present some of the underpinnings of the modeling method and explain why it deserves a careful look from each of us.
