W4 - An Introduction to Tutorials in Intermediate Mechanics

ORAL

Abstract

Ongoing physics education research (PER) has demonstrated that physics majors-not just introductory-level students-encounter persistent difficulties in understanding physics concepts and in making appropriate connections between the physics and mathematics. In this ``mini-workshop'' college/university instructors will learn about of PER-tested tutorial materials designed to enhance learning in intermediate mechanics. Participants will obtain firsthand experience with selected tutorials and learn how they can be tailored for a variety of course formats for upper-division mechanics.
