W2 - Investigative Science Learning Environments: Resources and Help in Implementation

In my talk I discuss how the Investigative Science Learning Environment (ISLE) philosophy might help your students meet the needs of the 21$^{\mathrm{st}}$ century workplace and be successful on many assessments. In this workshop the participants will learn about the resources available for the implementation of ISLE and about the challenges that one meets when trying new materials. In addition to curriculum materials such as ISLE-based textbook, Active Learning Guide, Instructor Guide and complete laboratory program (real experiments and virtual) we have developed a very simple support system that will provide you with help in running your course on a timely basis and will even suggest possible research questions if you are interested in studying your student learning and publishing your findings. Workshop participants will receive copies of the above resources (textbook, ALG and instructor guide). The resources provided in the workshop can be used in any introductory course; one does need to adopt ISLE to take advantage of them.
