New Methodology for Modeling Quantum Well Infrared Photodetectors

ORAL

Abstract

The paper presents a method for modeling quantum well infrared photodetectors (QWIPs). Their block diagram models are devised. VisSim environment is used to achieve this purpose. Block diagram simulation results are validated against published work and full agreements are obtained. Using of graphical user interface allows a quick experimentation with alternative values of performance parameters such as number of quantum well, temperature, and spacing between the wells of QWIPs. Moreover, implicit solutions of dynamic equations governing QWIPs provide exact handling of the device performance. Several performance parameters are tuned to enhance the performance of these detectors through the presented methodology.
