Electron-Krypton excitation cross sections of interest in plasma modelling

Abstract
Relativistic distorted wave (RDW) calculations are reported for electron excitation of krypton in the intermediate energy range. The excited states include all the 4d, 5s, 5p and 6s fine-structure levels. We produce both differential and integrated cross sections and compare with existing experimental results. As an aid to plasma modelling we have fitted our integrated cross sections to an analytic formula. This enables us to analyse our results in terms of the total angular momentum J of the excited levels.
