Enzyme Diffusion Watched in Real Time Directly

ORAL

Abstract

A limitation, in the controversial study of enhanced enzyme diffusion, is that the experiments were too indirect and controversial. We have formulated protocols to obtain consistent experimental findings. Upshot: enzyme selection, sample preparation, labeling, and purification – all of these matter, predictably. They support the conclusion that catalytic enzymes, when they catalyze reaction with substrate molecules, experience boosted diffusion.
