Exploration of Neurodivergent Focused Research in STEM
POSTER
Abstract
We should strive to create a fair and equitable education system for neurodivergent learners. Recent research shows that neurodivergent learners perform and learn non-normatively. While multiple literature reviews exist which investigate the experiences of neurodivergent people in higher education, none exist which investigate neurodivergent STEM performance and learning. We present the results of a systematic literature review which does just that - investigates the STEM learning and performance of neurodivergent undergraduates, discussing what is already known about neurodivergent STEM learning, the ways which neurodivergent STEM learning and performance is represented in the literature, and gaps in the literature. We also provide a synthesis of recommendations for instructors, students, and departments.
