Abstract
The European Strategy for Particle Physics (ESPP) serves as the cornerstone of Europe’s long-term decision-making process for the future of the field. Following the CERN Council’s call in March 2024 for a third update of the Strategy, the process is now underway toward defining a visionary and concrete plan for advancing fundamental physics and guiding the next flagship project at CERN. This update will identify the preferred option for a future collider and prioritized alternatives, as well as key complementary areas of exploration both within and beyond Europe. In this contribution, I will summarize the process of the 2026 ESPP update, focusing on the content of the Physics Briefing Book and covering the full range of physics and technology topics.
