Updates for US Muon Collider Technology Perspective

ORAL  · Invited

Abstract

The 2023 P5 report and the 2020 European Strategy for Particle Physics Update, have both recommended long-range development of an approximately 10 TeV parton mass collider, with a muon collider design emerging as a compelling opportunity. An overview of the contemporary muon collider design will be presented, from the IMCC design to additional considerations for siting at Fermilab. Accelerator design choices are shaped by technology development and the critical R&D areas include high-power targetry, ionization cooling, superconducting magnets, and high-gradient RF. In particular a large-scale demonstrator of the muon ionization cooling channel technology will be an important development milestone.
