An NSF-NRT: Transdisciplinary preparation across graduate programs
ORAL
Abstract
The overarching aim of this NSF Research Traineeship was to develop an innovative and transferable graduate traineeship model in digital health, one that focuses on how to prepare graduate students for studies of a very transdisciplinary nature. Particularly, we focused on improved understanding of digital health and its use, especially on how we can start to build bridges across the different silos involved; development of a new certificate that would fit within normal time to degree and add value; and direct involvement of Primarily Undergraduate Institutions, which could be replicated by other mid-sized research-active universities. We briefly present the traineeship model developed and lessons learned from this workforce development effort in a leading-edge technology area across engineering, physics and health sciences.
